What’s Here
Campuswide administrative policies, i.e. policies of broad interest or applicability to the campus community. Not all policies are listed yet, but we’re working on it.
What’s Not Here
Policies that campus units make for themselves.
How to Search
Type a word or phrase into the keyword search engine and hit return, or scroll through the A-Z list. The keyword search retrieves two sets of results: one based on keywords and one based on the summaries we’ve written for each policy. The keyword results are more likely to produce what you’re looking for, but we’ve included the summary results as a back-up. If both a keyword and A-Z search return nothing, try searching the keyword index.
Duplicate Listings
On some keyword search results you’ll see the same policy listed more than once. That’s because the policy has more than one entry in the A-Z list (example: “Code of Conduct, Student” and “Student Code of Conduct”).
Same Policy, But One Says UC Systemwide, One Says Campus
The Office of the President (OP) makes policies for the entire system. OP policies are broadly written so each campus can implement them in a manner best suited to local conditions. Wherever OP has a general policy and the Berkeley campus a specific one on the same subject, we label the OP version “UC Systemwide” and the Berkeley policy “Campus.” Read the UC systemwide policy for the spirit of the policy, the campus version for the letter. Note: the campus has the option of making its policy more restrictive than OP’s.
The Summary Page
When you click on a policy, you’ll be taken to a summary page. The brief explanation there may save you from having to read the full policy. If the summary is insufficient, a link to the full policy is provided. We may also list a campus contact you can call or email.
